Artist Bio

Paul Bentsen is a didactic truth seeker that uses photography, digital media and writing to connect with people across his life's journey. Paul’s work explores the complexity of the vibrancy and darkness that surrounds black and queer culture. His inspiration pulls directly from the eccentric personalities galvanizing in NYC nightlife with curiosity of a young kid raised on Long Island. His work explores themes of self-determination, love, organized chaos, absurdism and admiration. He has collaborated with many artists that have been featured on major networks including HBO, VH1 and Logo TV. His professional artist journey began with an Intro to Photography class at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and has landed heart first in BedStuy. While interning for MILK Studios in video production, his desire to tell queer black stories in different mediums eventually led to film and screenwriting. Paul is currently working on his 2nd solo exhibition in BedStuy.
